First, I will probably launch a full website. As we journey into 2019, I can say I have been blogging for 17 years, of which I have spent 10 on Blogger. I like this blogging program but it has its limitations. For one thing, it is difficult to rearrange the layout. Also, I need to move away from the Google family of products because Big Tech is icky.
Second, I will unroll a lot of new books. You may have noticed that my blogging has grown inconsistent over the years. I can explain: I have been writing many other things and publishing them elsewhere or storing them. In 2019, I want to make these available as books, some long and some short, some cheap and some a little pricier. I am now completely disengaged from Facebook and Twitter, so I need to commit to the writing mode I set up for myself. I want to avoid Big Tech and connect directly with people.
Third, I will strive to obey God. I had an intense prayer experience last summer and felt God calling me to a specific task. Many have noticed that a spiritual crisis cripples the West right now. The sexuality issue has played a central role but not the only role. I feel God calling me to get things done with my writing, not just write for the sake of unloading or competing with other people's projects. I have to mind my skill sets and see how I can contribute. I worry a great deal about Trump and his followers, because we scored a huge victory by winning the election in 2016, and now we feel ill-prepared to deal with the full weight of the backlash. I have concluded, at last, that liberal and conservative mean very little as terms. The conservative movement has disillusioned me enough that I feel comfortable calling myself independent or, at the very least, a conservative free agent. I will deal with a lot of politics while still trying to help other voices find their inroads as well.
Here's to a great 2019. I start now.
